Online Master of Science in Child Development

Back to Master’s Degrees

Grow your expertise in leadership and advocacy in child life while enjoying the flexibility of an online master’s degree program.

We know that a child life specialist plays an important role within a medical setting by becoming an advocate for the psychosocial needs of children and families now more than ever with the COVID-19 pandemic. And we are pleased to support the upcoming Fall 2020 students with an introductory scholarship.

Fall 2020 Scholarship Opportunity
The introductory Child Life Leadership Scholarship is worth up to $10,000. The scholarship is open to full-time students who start in Fall 2020 and is for the entirety of the program.*

This new online program is designed for Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLS) with three to five years of experience who seek to grow their expertise in leadership and advocacy roles within the field of child life. Erikson Institute has prepared generations of certified child life specialists who work in both hospital and non-hospital settings. Now, Erikson will help prepare child life leaders with this new 30 credit hour degree program.

Students will gain skills in developing and administering child life programs to produce better outcomes for children within hospital settings. As a part of the health care team, students will learn about how they can implement research to advocate for child life in many settings including outside of the hospital. The child development and concentration courses will help you develop leadership and advocacy skills to help build, manage and innovate child life programs.

This program does not lead to child life licensure. If you are looking for a program that leads to child life specialist certification, consider our on-campus degree program.

Application Deadlines:
Erikson Institute accepts applications on a rolling basis. This means we accept applications throughout the year for all academic terms and programs, and applications are evaluated as they are completed. However, applications received by our Priority Submission Dates for each term will receive primary consideration for scholarship awards.

Priority Application Submission Dates:
Fall Term: March 15

*The Child Life Leadership Introduction Scholarship is available for full-time students who begin their degree program in Fall 2020. Scholarship eligibility is contingent upon admission, full-time enrollment, and completion of a FASFA. Additional criteria may apply.
